What infrared photography is

Near-infrared photography records light just beyond the red end of what we see. With the right camera and filters, foliage often gleams and skies deepen — not because software invented magic, but because vegetation reflects near-infrared strongly.

What full-spectrum photography is

A full-spectrum camera records a wider band of light than a stock digital camera — often by removing the internal filter that blocks ultraviolet and near-infrared. Photographers then choose external filters to decide which wavelengths reach the sensor.

Why vegetation often looks bright in near-infrared

Healthy leaves reflect a large share of near-infrared light. In true IR photography that reflectance can turn canopies luminous — an optical property of plants, not a fantasy color effect.

Why false color is used

Sensors and displays still present results as red, green, and blue. False color maps invisible or rearranged channels into colors we can see, so differences become readable — beautiful, but interpretive.

Why special filters or converted cameras may be needed

Most cameras reject near-infrared and ultraviolet so everyday photos look natural. Capturing those bands usually means a converted body, specialized filters, and careful white balance — not a software filter alone.

Why animal vision cannot be recreated from ordinary RGB alone

Other animals may sense different wavelengths or process detail differently. An RGB file does not contain those missing signals, so reconstructions stay approximate and educational.

Artistic transformation vs spectral capture

This studio remaps the colors already in your photograph. Spectral capture records different light at the moment of exposure. Both can inspire wonder; only specialized capture measures the invisible bands themselves.
